Motel Hell, my reaction

Whoa. I live on the twelvth floor, the same floor "Motel Hell" writer David Holthouse stayed on.

It's interesting, my girlfriend's friend says she used to work at The Regency, and that her mom was the manager. When I told her about the article, she said that it wasn't true, that there was no Lee. If that's true, I wonder if the Westword was sued.

She did say the elevators were actually pretty bad. I told her that they aren't too much better now. We do have buttons that light up when pushed and phones in the elevators, but sometimes they will open to empty halls and drop pretty quick. Not see-my-life-flash-before-my-eyes quick or even uncomfortably quick, but just quick. Maybe they're just more effecient.

It's weird that they say Elvis' ghost is here, because I've heard that sometimes residents here will get knocks on their doors and no one will be there when they answer. It hasn't happened to me, so I'm wondering if it's just some punk residents pulling pranks as college kids tend to do.

I have heard the "Devil" story, where the man's boot falls off while on the bull, revealing a hoof. Everyone at The Regency has heard that. In fact, there's a MySpace profile someone here created called El Diablo. His "About Me" section reads:

"i was born from the grinding of souls, betwixed earth and flesh. i found the basement of the regency when i was but a weeeeeee chap. thence is where i will dwel for all of eternity."

It's actually kind of funny.

All in all, it looks like The Regency turned out for the better. The place really is nice now and nothing like the place described in Holthouse's story. I actually like living here, and I think it'll stay a great place for Auraria students for a long time.
